Kirsty and Ollie got married at The Secret Garden in Ashford during the summer of 2023. The Secret Garden is a beautiful, slightly quirky wedding venue tucked into the cobbled courtyard of the historic Mersham Le Hatch Estate, just off the M20 near Ashford. It's built around a restored Victorian Coach House with its own clocktower, a restored Victorian Glasshouse, and a classic walled garden with a working kitchen garden growing seasonal fruit, vegetables and flowers. There's a choice of ceremony areas across the venue, from the outdoor gazebo in the garden to the Glass House, the south-facing terrace, and the Chapel, so there's a setting for every season and every style. I started the day with Kirsty and her bridesmaids at a nearby Airbnb about a mile from the venue, before heading over for the outdoor ceremony in the walled gardens. After the ceremony everyone spilled into the cobbled courtyard for champagne and canapés, Ollie squeezed in a couple of overs of cricket with his team on the lawn, and we did the group shots before speeches and the wedding breakfast. I took Kirsty and Ollie for a relaxed walk around the gardens and glasshouse for portraits, and the evening finished with a sparkler tunnel made up of the whole guest list.
