A bit about me…
My favourite film is Forrest Gump. I saw it at the cinema as a kid and it inspired me to travel.
I love Indian food. No trip to London is complete without a visit to Brick Lane in the evening.
The best part of the wedding day for me is when the bride and groom see each other for the first time. So many emotions.
My most favourite place in the world is Yellowstone National Park.
I got married to my wife Oscarine in 2024 at the East Quay Venue. We got engaged at the Angkor Wat in Cambodia in late 2023.
How it all started
Back in 2012 I was working in an office job in London. Good times, but creatively I knew it wasn’t for me. I was on the tube one morning and saw an advert for a really cheap round-the-world ticket with STA Travel. It got me thinking. Three days later I bought the ticket and handed in my notice. Four weeks later I touched down in Kuala Lumpur and bought a cheap SLR. I spent the next six months photographing South East Asia and the USA. Every good shot went straight onto Facebook, and I started to build up a following of people saying nice things about my photos.
My First Wedding
When I got back I moved home to Kent, and on a night out in Broadstairs a lady called Natalie, who’d been following my travel photos, came up to me at the bar. “James, I love your travel photos… I want you to photograph my wedding in Ibiza next year.” A couple of beers down, I said yes. It was a year away and I knew I had to take the opportunity. A few days later we met for a coffee and booked the flights. The nerves on the morning of the wedding were quickly replaced by excitement, and I absolutely loved shooting the day. Natalie and Max loved their photos, and that’s how my journey into wedding photography started.
The Present Day
I now photograph weddings full time across Kent, and I’m a recommended photographer at Chapel House Estate, Winters Barns, East Quay, Solton Manor and The Crescent Turner. Over the years I’ve built up a documentary style that suits couples who just want to have fun with their family and friends, without being pulled around for photos all day. My favourite moment of any wedding is when the couple see each other for the first time.
