The Crescent Turner Whitstable Wedding Photographer – Liddy & Joe
Liddy and Joe got married at The Crescent Turner in Whitstable, and even though it rained all day it's still one of the most fun weddings I've ever photographed. The Crescent Turner is a stylish 18-bedroom boutique hotel perched at the top of Wraik Hill just outside Whitstable, with panoramic views across the estuary, the Kent coastline, and out to the Isle of Sheppey. The name actually comes from JMW Turner, who painted the Seasalter Flats that the hotel looks out over. The venue has two acres of grounds, a terrace for ceremonies, and a large tipi that can seat up to 176 guests for the reception, which makes it genuinely flexible for all weathers. Liddy and Joe went ahead with their outdoor garden ceremony despite the rain, which gave the day a proper character, before moving into the tipi for the celebrations. They brought their dog along for the day, had a samba band playing in the afternoon, and a rock band taking over in the evening. The rain didn't slow anything down and the tipi kept everyone together in one big, happy party.
Natural, documentary wedding photography at The Crescent Turner, Whitstable
The Crescent Turner is a brilliant venue for wedding photography whatever the weather throws at you. The tipi gives you a big, flexible reception space that doesn't feel like a rain-plan if the weather turns, the terrace and gardens work for outdoor ceremonies and drinks, and the hill-top setting means the views over Whitstable and the estuary are always in the background. With 18 bedrooms on site and two acres of grounds, everyone stays in one place for the full day and it never feels like you're rushing between venues. If you're planning your wedding at The Crescent Turner and want a photographer who'll stay in the background, go with the flow and capture the day as it actually happens, including the bits you can't plan for, I'd love to hear from you.
