Wilderness Weddings Canterbury Wedding Photographer – Lorraine & Tom

Lorraine and Tom got married at Wilderness Weddings near Canterbury in August. Wilderness is one of the most distinctive wedding venues in Kent, a 200-acre eco-farm and rewilding project tucked into a private valley just outside Canterbury, with ancient woodland, wildflower meadows, a boating lake, and three giant Kata tipis making up the heart of the venue. It's firmly on the boho and festival side of things, built around outdoor ceremonies, open skies and sunsets across the fields. The structures on site, including the Woodsman's Cabin, the Boat-Zebo, the Champagne Shack and the treehouse DJ booth, have mostly been built from salvaged wood on the farm itself, so the whole place has a genuinely handmade feel. There's on-site glamping for guests, two licensed ceremony spaces down by the lake, and plenty of room to spread out. For couples after something relaxed, outdoor and properly different from the usual Kent wedding venues, it's hard to beat. The sunsets across the fields at the end of the day are especially good for photography.

Natural, documentary wedding photography at Wilderness Weddings, Canterbury

Wilderness Weddings is a venue that rewards a documentary approach. With everything happening outdoors and guests moving naturally between the lake, the tipis, the meadows and the woodland, the day is genuinely unstructured in the best way, and photography just becomes a case of following the light and the people rather than directing anything. The scale of the site means you've got endless options for portraits without ever leaving the venue, and the sunsets across the fields at the end of the day are worth making time for. If you're planning a relaxed, outdoor festival-style wedding at Wilderness and want a photographer who'll stay in the background and let the day happen at its own pace, I'd love to hear from you.
