Margate Wedding Photographer – Hollie & David
Hollie and David got married in Margate, Kent, with a properly local Thanet wedding that moved between some of the area's most characterful spots. Both got ready in Broadstairs on the morning of the day before heading over to Margate for the ceremony at Holy Trinity Church in Cliftonville. After confetti outside the church we drove down to Margate beach for a windy but beautiful portrait session on the sand with the Turner Contemporary and the Harbour Arm in the background. The rest of the day was at Margate Winter Gardens, right on the Margate seafront and one of the largest banqueting halls in Kent. Ellie Sax played the reception, the dancefloor was absolutely packed all evening, and the whole day had a proper Margate energy to it, equal parts coastal, characterful, and a little bit wild around the edges.

Margate is one of my local towns, I'm based in Broadstairs just a few minutes down the road, so weddings here always feel particularly special. A day like Hollie and David's shows off the best of the town: the historic Holy Trinity Church for the ceremony, the golden sands and the Turner Contemporary backdrop for portraits, and the Victorian grandeur of the Winter Gardens for a proper old-school reception. The whole day can be walked or driven in a few minutes, which keeps things relaxed and gives the photographs a real sense of place. Documentary photography really suits this kind of wedding because the town and the people do most of the work for you.
