Quex Park Wedding Photographer – Harriett & Sam

Harriett and Sam got married at Quex Park in Birchington, Kent, during May 2022. Quex Park is a historic 250-acre private estate just outside Birchington-on-Sea on the Isle of Thanet, centred around Grade II listed Quex House, which has stood on the site in some form since the early 15th century. The estate is also home to the Powell-Cotton Museum and the Waterloo Tower, a Grade II listed secular bell tower. For weddings, there are three ceremony options: the outdoor Victorian-style gazebo set within the gardens for up to 120 guests, and two indoor options inside Quex House itself, the Grand Hall with its oak-panelled walls and sweeping staircase for more intimate ceremonies, and the Dining Hall for larger weddings. The gardens include a Victorian walled garden, wooded parkland, ponds, and extensive lawns, and because of the estate's secluded position, it's also one of the only venues in Kent that can offer fireworks to round off the evening. A May wedding at Quex is a really good time of year for this venue, with the gardens coming into full bloom and long evenings.

Natural, documentary wedding photography at Quex Park, Birchington

Quex Park is one of the most distinctive country estate wedding venues in East Kent. The combination of the historic house, the oak-panelled interiors, the Victorian gazebo, the walled garden and the 250 acres of parkland means there's really no shortage of options for where to photograph different parts of the day, and the whole place has a proper sense of occasion without feeling formal or stiff. Because it's a bit tucked away on the Isle of Thanet, the grounds tend to stay private and quiet throughout the day, which suits a documentary approach really well. Being based in Broadstairs, just a few minutes down the road from Quex Park, it's also one of my local venues. If you're planning your wedding at Quex Park and want a photographer who'll stay in the background and let the day happen naturally, I'd love to hear from you. You can get in touch here or take a look at my pricing and packages.
