Preston Court, Canterbury
I’ve photographed a number of weddings at Preston Court over the last 10 years, and it’s one of my favourite venues in Kent, with some of the best outdoor space in the county. I’ve shot ceremonies in St Mildred’s church and out on Juliana’s Island, and afterwards there’s plenty of room for drinks and canapés, either right beside the ceremony area or on the lawn next to the barn. The barn itself is a beautiful setting for the wedding breakfast, and it always turns into a great party in the evening.
When it comes to photos, you’re spoilt for choice. In spring and summer the surrounding trees glow at golden hour, and they’re right by the venue, so portraits never mean a long walk. The pond and bridge make a lovely backdrop too, and I’ve had some brilliant shots on the Ferris wheel and around the fairground games, which always bring out everyone’s fun side.
