The Bridal/Groom Preps

Depending on which package you go for then I will usually be with the bridal party to start the day for between 45 minutes to 2 hours. For the shorter packages (8x hours) I will usually start when you have had your hair and make up done and its time to get in your dress whilst for the longer packages (10-12 hours) I will be around to photograph make up/hair, present & card openings + all the laughs (and nerves ;) ) in between. For shorter packages (6x hours) or for couples that would prefer for me to capture more of the night time events then it can also be arranged for me to start the day at the ceremony/venue. I can also cover the groom preps if its logistically suitable too.

The Dad/Mum First Look

This is one of my favourite parts of the day and often has some beautiful reactions. A shot that goes by within a few seconds but will mean the world to you once its taken. Often taken at the end of the bridal preps and a few moments after once you are in your dress and ready for the day. Once i’ve taken this shot then its time for me to leave and make my way to the ceremony.

The Ceremony Build Up

So this is the most exciting part of the day for me and is a nice quick window of time where I am at the front of the ceremony and in an area where I can capture the reactions of the groom/bride as he anticipates the arrival of his wife or husband to be. Just like all of my photography I capture these shots in the most discreet way possible so I can make the groom, groomsmens & guests feel at ease and dont overwhelm them during this special moment.

The Ceremony

The most anticipated and emotional part of the day! 30-45 minutes of time that contains nearly every emotion under the sun, which is also my most favourite part of the day to capture. From the grooms nerves, the anticipation of the walk down the aisle, the first look, the relief & excitement of seeing each other, the guests smiles and the big shot of the day…the first KISS! This is the time where I am non-stop fully focused on capturing every little detail that is going on within the room. I work with 2-3 camera’s during this time so I can not only capture the Bride & Groom but also the guests as they look on towards you.

The confetti shot

The confetti shot usually takes place as you walk down the aisle if you are having your ceremony outdoors or outside the main doors outside if you are getting married at a church. Its a super-fun and exciting moment. Quick tip for confetti and for getting those great smily shots, try not to look towards the ground too much & also walk at a slow pace. If you aren’t allowed confetti at your venue then bubbles are always a brilliant replacement. Note - there will always be one person that throws a whole handful of confetti in the grooms face, so be ready ;)

Canopies & Congratulations

The time after the ceremony & confetti where everyone gets their chance to congratulate you and give you a big hug and kiss. As you can imagine this is a great time for me to photograph as I move around capturing all the little moments of excitement. Many venues bring out canopies and drinks during this time so its a nice time to relax and let chill with the newlywed’s and guests.

The Group Shots

Some couples like to have them whilst some just like to keep the full day natural but if you want them then I can most certainly take them for you. The group shots are often best to take 30-40 minutes before your sit down meal. All I need is a list beforehand sent to me on email and then we can take these all together in one place before everyone heads indoors for the meal and speeches.

The Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

So during the wedding breakfast when everyone is eating its time for me to take a break, have some food myself and a quick coffee. I also use this time to scout around the venue for nice places for the couples portrait shoot later in the day. I pick up the photography again when its time for the speeches. I love to not only photograph the person giving the speech but also the reactions of the guests and bride & groom. As you can see from the two photos above, the bestman’s speech can offer some golden moments to capture.

The Portrait Shoot

Around an hour or so before the sun sets and the light is soft & golden I like to take the newlyweds out for 20-30 minutes to get some photographs together. Just like all of my photography this is a really relaxed photo session and I like to keep things as natural as possible. I do give a little bit of direction on where to stand, when to look towards the camera etc but I encourage couples to just have a laugh (and kiss) with each other and I simply just capture all those little moments, its really that simple. We will go to around 4-5 different locations around the venue to give a good variety of backgrounds to your photo’s.

The First Dance & Father/Daughter Dance

Typically around 730/8pm and once the evening guests have arrived then its time for the cake cut and first dance. I’ll make sure I capture a few intimate shots of you both during the dance but I wont be too ‘in-your-face’ and i’ll also get a few shots of your guests as they cheer you on and come onto the dancefloor themselves for a dance after. A short while after the first dance I sometimes get to shoot the father & daughter dance too which can be a really emotional time to get some shots too.

The Party

With my longer packages (10-12x hours) I will be on the dancefloor into the night with you and your guests as they party the night away. Whether you have hired a DJ, saxophonist or band (or all of these together)…then i’ll make sure i’m in amongst the action to capture all the vibes.
