How to Nail Your Confetti Photo (and Survive That One Mate Who Aims for Your Face)
Let’s be honest, the confetti walk is the best bit of the day. Everyone’s buzzing, your guests finally get to throw something at you, and it’s usually the photo that ends up on your wall. Here’s how to make sure it’s a good one.
Slow down
There’s no rush. The confetti’s only in the air for a few seconds, so the slower you walk, the more chances I get to catch it falling around you. Stroll, don’t sprint.
Chin up
You’ll probably flinch a bit, and that’s completely normal when a crowd of people are throwing things at you. But if you can, try to look ahead or even up at the confetti, rather than down at the ground. That way I get your smiles and reactions, which is what makes the photo so special.
Pick the floaty stuff
Light, floaty petals hang in the air for ages and look amazing in photos. Biodegradable confetti from people like Flutter Darlings is perfect, and it keeps your venue happy too. Just check what they allow first.
Throw in a move
Fancy it? Stop halfway for a kiss, a dip or a twirl. It gives everyone a chance to grab another handful, and it’s often the best photo of the lot. Not your thing? That’s fine too. Just walk through, look up and enjoy it.
The one mate
There’s always one. While everyone else throws it gracefully up in the air, they’ll walk right up and pop a full handful straight in your face. You’ll be finding bits in your hair at midnight. Honestly, those photos are often the funniest of the day, so let them have their moment.
Save some for the dancefloor
Confetti cannons over the dancefloor at the end of the first dance are brilliant. Hand a few to your friends, let them off as the song finishes, and watch everyone pile straight onto the floor.
A few of my favourite places for confetti? The beach at The East Quay, the gardens at Chapel House Estate, the courtyard at The Secret Gardens and the front of Westenhanger Castle. You can see how it all fits into the day on my style page.
