James Davies Wedding photographer in Kent

Kent Wedding Photographer | London Wedding Photographer | Destination Photographer

Hi I'm James and I've been photographing people for quite a while now, it all started when I decided a few years back that I wanted to see a bit more of the world and purchased a ticket to visit the countries around South East Asia. Touching down in Bangkok and flinging myself right into the middle of the energetic hustle and bustle I knew straight away that I couldn’t let what I was seeing in front of me just pass me by. The open fire cooking in the streets, food market traders jostling for business, exotic animals walking through the city streets, monks on their IPADs and Tuk Tuk drivers speeding down alleyways – the place was crazy but in a good way. My camera was swinging around my neck 24/7 for the year that I was out there as I captured every ounce of life that was racing before me. I didn’t want to stop people in the street and ask them for a picture (mainly because I couldn’t speak Thai, Cambodian or Vietnamese) so I just composed myself to the side and shot at the correct moment as the people went about their lives. The result was a fusion of eye opening, interesting, funny and at times weird collection of photographs. What I didn’t realise was that this would be my training to becoming a reportage wedding photographer – creatively capturing the excitement of life as it happens.

My reportage wedding style is all about photographing the day as it naturally unfolds, composing myself to capture the emotion of the bride, groom and guests as they smile, break into laughter, dance and every now and again cry tears of joy. I like to shoot the wedding day from the very beginning as the excitement builds as the bride gets ready with her bridesmaids, the epic ceremony moments, all the way through to the crazy dance moves at the end of the night. I get lots of feedback from everyone after that my photographs have captured the spirit of the day, with people looking relaxed and oblivious to the camera. As a fan of modern portraiture I love to get the bride and groom together during the late golden light for a relaxed and intimate shoot – I promote a calm and comfortable vibe and will simply just ask you both to come together and be yourself while I take some photos around you. I also believe that it is an important to appreciate the amount of detail and effort that is put into a wedding day by the bride and groom so I spend time creatively capturing the flowers, dress and suit details, venue and anything else that looks cool. With all of these techniques gelled together your final set of photographs will be a collection of the spontaneous, heart-warming highlights of your day as they naturally happen.

As well as photographing weddings, I also shoot fashion shows, studio headshots, the landscapes of the USA around 2 or 3 times a year and I also own an online art gallery called Kent Coast Gallery which includes all of my fine art photographic scenes from across the famous British coastline.

If you are planning on getting married at home in England or abroad id love to hear from you. Get in contact with me at info@jamesdaviesweddingphotography.com or fill out one of my contact forms. I look forward to hearing from you :)
